Detailing, the art of making an old bike look like it just came off the showroom floor. If you have tips and tricks you would like to share, email me.

1.)    After I had finished a good long run on the bike and discovered a rather disconcerting assortment of bugs smashed all over the front of it, I was having  a discussion with my neighbor across the back alley. Don owns a very pristine 1972  Volvo P 1800.ES. I was marveling as to how he managed to keep his car so clean. When asking him some of his detailing secrets he offered me this piece of sage advice. He said, "Paul, just don't drive it anywhere!"

Well, you may take this advice for what you will. There is not much fun in it if you take pleasure in the ride. Though, on considering his suggestion, I will stay out of the mud puddles as much as possible. I am of the opinion a restored bike is meant to be ridden. How else are you going to know if it is complete with pistons.
